Sober for the past seven years, Friel had suffered from substance abuse most of her young adult life and is now working to help others stay sober and remove the stigma of addiction.

Courtney Friel joined KTLA in 2013 after working six years at Fox News Channel, where she was a New York correspondent, headline anchor and fill-in host for “Fox & Friends.” Previously she reported for CBS, ABC and Fox affiliate stations as well as shows including “America’s Most Wanted,” “Extra,” and “E! News.”

Shatterproof is a national nonprofit organization dedicated to reducing the devastation the disease of addiction causes families.
