STREAMING NEXT WEEK: HIGHLIGHTS OF LATEST PERFORMANCES TO BE RELEASED BY PERFORMING ARTS STREAMING SERVICE CENNARIUM

Key dance performances from Opera National de Paris, Prague National Theatre and Opera of Marseille including Puccini tribute and “Romeo and Juliet” now accessible online

NEW YORK, Nov. 9, 2017 – Cennarium, one of the largest streaming services for the performing arts, will release a new slate of performance the week of Nov. 13, 2017; among the highlights:

PUCCINI
Genre: dance; theatre company: Compagnie Julien Lestel; venue: Opera of Marseille (France); music: Giacomo Puccini; choreography: Julien Lestel; year: 2014. Trailer: https://www.cennarium.com/show/puccini/

The heroines of the composer Giacomo Puccini were almost always doomed to a tragic fate. This choreography is a tribute to the opera and to the illustrious departed composer. Referring to those familiar tunes, symphonic works illustrate the skill of the exceptional orchestration that Puccini built. Through this ballet for 11 dancers, Julien Lestel has imagined a new choreography around the great heroines from the most famous Puccini operas: “Tosca,” “Manon Lescaut,” “Madame Butterfly” and “La Bohème.”

ROMEO AND JULIET
Genre: dance; theatre company: Prague National Theatre; venue: Prague National Theatre (Czech Republic); music: Sergei Prokofiev; choreography: Petr Zuska; year: 2015. Trailer: https://www.cennarium.com/show/petr-zuska-romeo-juliet/

“Romeo and Juliet” is one of the most frequently performed ballets at the Prague National Theatre. The first one premiered in December 1938, yet this new staging is very different compared to previous productions. Unlike in the original Shakespearean tragedy, this production does not focus on the story of lovers but on the reason for resentment and blood feud between the Montagues and Capulets. This interpretation leaves more room for other and all too often neglected characters.

LA PETITE DANSEUSE DE DEGAS
Genre: dance; theatre company: Opera National de Paris; venue: Opera National de Paris (France); music: Denis Levaillant; choreography: Patrice Bart; year: 2010. Trailer: https://www.cennarium.com/show/la-petite-danseuse-de-degas/

Paris Opera Ballet Master and choreographer Patrice Bart plunges into the opera’s past and brings Degas’ famous statuette to life. From the rehearsal rooms to the Cabaret du Chat Noir, the ballet conjures up a colorful era and the lively backstage world of a theatre.
